STATEWIDE PLATFORM
  Repeal the Dillon Rule.
This relic of state supremacy is the enemy of Democracy. I support giving localities more power to determine their form of government and the laws which govern their localities. I view the role of the state to preserve the rights and freedoms of its citizens and the promote the Public Good and the Common Wealth.
  More Democracy.
I support the use of Instant Runoff Voting in elections with more than two candidates. Learn more here. I support increasing the use of the citizen initiated referendum, recall elections, and ballot initiatives. I also support the popular election of State Supreme Court Justices and Local Judges. Citizens should play a more active role in participating in our Democracy.
  Repeal the "Civil Remedial Fees"
Discriminatory against Virginians. Not a legitimate source of revenue to maintain a transportation system and infrastructure. I support higher gasoline and tobacco taxes to fund Transportation.
Five Year Moratorium on Development of undeveloped land.
Force redevelopment of neglected property. Reduce Sprawl in the short term, Re-Invest in our Cities. The mortatorium will not apply to new schools or farms.
  Support Governor Kaine's Pre-K programs.

Freeze Your Home's Assessment at Purchase Price.
I support the Assessment Reform that rewards Citizens for staying in Virginia. It's a policy that creates an incentive for people to move to Virginia. In contrast to our current system which allows assessment values to rise forever. The cost of living is too high. It is also a tremendous advantage to low income senior citizens who have owned their homes for decades.

Equal Rights for All Virginians.

I support full and equal rights for all people of Commonwealth regardless of sex, color, religion, political beliefs, sexual preference, and national origin.
  Abolish the Death Penalty
The state should never kill a criminal. I support life in prison with no parole for murder. I support putting the question before the voters of the Commonwealth in the form of a referendum. Let the Citizens directly decide on matters of life and death.
Reduction of the Workday / Work week .
I have long been an advocate of shortening the workday and work week to a 6 hour day / 24 hour work week, with no reduction in wages or benefits. We need politicians to take such positions in order to change our laws. In August of 1866, the National Labor Union announced its fight for the 8 hour day, which was eventually signed into law in 1916. A shorter workday would represent an immediate emancipation from labor and political victory for working people.
  Legalize Marijuana, Build Rail System.
Regulate marijuana like tobacco. No genetic modification or additives. The release of non-violent drug offenders from jails and prisons will save the Commonwealth millions of dollars. Charge $6 tax per box of 20 cigarettes. $5 from every box to go toward funding a state-wide high speed rail system and light rail systems in our cities. $1 from every box to fund free state-wide addiction treatment programs for all drugs including tobacco, alcohol, and gambling.
