Write in Silver Persinger for U.S. President 2008

Today I announce my continuing efforts to push for REAL economic and social change. This is a purely grassroots presidential campaign to promote the Free Party Platform for a more democratic, just, and equitable society. The campaign will most likely only spread by word of mouth, blog, and internet. If you like what I'm saying and want a different society with health care for all, jobs, and opportunities -- tell your friends and family about my website and let them judge my campaign on the merits of the platform.

This campaign is about the power of ideas, hope, and democracy. It is also a testament to the power of a private citizen exercising the right of free political speech. I am not accepting or soliciting campaign donations [at least not until my video or website receive at least 100,000 hits], my campaign shall succeed or fail to the extent people agree with my message, analysis, and proposed solutions. I hope you are ready.

The Free Party Platform serves as the founding declaration of the party. The party is born of the historical, political, and labor movements of the past; such American institutions as the currency reformers, the Greenback Labor Party, the early labor union the Knights of Labor, and the growing influence and popularity of Progressive thought at the turn of the last century. These movements inspire and inform my perspective along with a dash of American ingenuity, a pinch of creativity, a love of liberty, and a deep desire to be free.

It appears to me that the problem of our country is an economic one. Our economic system is a fiction maintained, preserved, and legitimized by our Government. The government's ability to promote civil society is warped by the powerful influence of concentrated wealth and the power of corporations. Our government has outsourced it's power to regulate the currency and the nation suffers.

We can do more. There is no reason for anyone to be homeless, hungry, out of work, or without the dignity worthy of all human beings.

The power of every Democracy comes from the People, the government's legitimacy comes from the consent of the governed. At anytime we want, WE, the People can elect an entirely different type of government. However, it takes determined politicians willing to risk life and limb to stand for one's beliefs.

I hope you take the time to read the Free Party Platform and let me know what you think. Additionally, if you are dissatisfied with the current state of society, I encourage you to run for office yourself.
